The previous generation well knew pollution was eroding their connections to the land and waters and thus their ways of life and local livelihoods. In the meantime US politicians, at the behest of powerful lobbyists and campaign contributors seek to relax or eliminate certain pollution controls and solutions as a matter of course because such controls "threaten" local, national, and now global business and commerce.
